The Free Nik Collection by Google Patched for Modern Mac OS

The Nik Collection is a collection of photo editing plugins, integrating with for example Photoshop, but also able to function on their own. Once costing $599.95 USD, Google has made this collection free in 2016, at version 1.2.11.

Until today it was impossible to install on modern Mac OS versions, due to a bug in the version checking logic of the installer. I have patched the installer to skip this version check, thereby allowing installation on modern systems.

Most of the apps included in the package still work!

Since the installer is modified, Mac OS cannot verify its authenticity, so you must right-click and select open in order to launch the installer.

And apply the patch as follows

xxd -c1 -r nik-collection-modern-mac-os-fix.hexpatch "Nik Collection.app/Contents/MacOS/Installer"

The installer should then work. You can verify you were successful by checking that the checksum corresponds with the following (using sha256sum): 327c6d63235a361da7cb2a6789e9b6c9a7874f164b15e3911ec2499b0fe3622a
